Simone Lepore was born in 1981 in Naples and currently lives in Delft (Netherlands). Here, at the Technological University of Delft, he has won a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in Geophysics: the issue he works on concerns carbon dioxide capture and storage. At the University of Naples Federico II he earned a degree in Physics and a PhD in Earth Sciences. During his PhD he spent two research stays in the USA, the first at the United States Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California (where he worked on geochronological dating of volcanic deposits), and the second at the University at Buffalo, Buffalo, New York (working on numerical simulations of turbulent multiphase flows). He is geochronological analyst for the geological map of Procida (scale 1:25,000) in the CARG project (Geological Mapping of Italy).
