Fernando Ferroni
Born in Rome in 1952, he has been full professor at Sapienza University of Rome since 2000.
A graduate in Physics from Sapienza in 1975, he has always worked on experimental aspects of elementary particle physics. He worked at CERN in Geneva, first on neutrino experiments up to the 1980s and then on the L3 experiment at LEP (the accelerator that preceded LHC in the Geneva tunnel). In the early 1990s he began his collaboration with the BaBar experiment at SLAC’s PEP2 accelerator (Stanford, USA) for the study of CP violation in “beauty” quark decays. He currently works at the Gran Sasso National Laboratories on the CUORE experiment, searching for neutrinoless double beta decay, and on an innovative project in the same field funded by an ERC grant. He is the author of several hundred articles in scientific journals and has served on numerous international committees in the field of High Energy Physics.
